This Friday the Ashmont Farmers Market enters its 13th season!  For over a decade it’s become a community gathering space that has been a source of not only local food but information about local resources, artists and artisans, all set to the back drop of amazing music by local musicians.   This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have reformatted our farmers market into a Grab & Go Market.  This model allows us to prioritize safety for our community while continuing to be an access point for local, affordable, and nutritious food.  Our opening day is set to take place on Friday July 10th.  The market will run on Fridays 3-7pm from July 10th through October 30th, provided we can operate safely and in the best interest of public health.

In following the City of Boston’s Farmers Market Guide, and regulations set by the Boston Public Health Commission, we encourage customers to pre-order their items from vendors whenever possible either through their online portals or over the phone.   Visit our vendor’s online sites (found here on our site) for more information on online and preordering.  Food items are required to be pre-packaged by vendors for easy & low contact Grab & Go pick up.

In Massachusetts, farmers markets remain essential operations that provide access to healthy food.  The “open air” setting, maintaining physical distancing guidelines, and the access to sanitation products creates a safer shopping experience for our vendors and community who frequent the market.  As an essential food access point, the market will continue offering SNAP/HIP for qualified shoppers. Visit the SNAP/ EBT and HIP site for more details on how the program works. At this time all entertainers, food demos, community and wellness activities are suspended.  We further encourage families to consider coordinating with neighbors to send one person to purchase items for multiple individuals or families.
