We’re excited to welcome Joy Gary as our new Program Assistant and Farmers Market Manager. Joy has spent a number of years in community food work.

Having been raised in Dorchester and as a current Mattapan community member, Joy is a life-long Boston resident. In her free time she likes to write, farm, visit restaurants to explore new flavors. She is passionate about community, food, and sustainable development and has spent her career at the intersection of these values. After studying culinary management she dedicated her time to supporting regenerative systems development, food justice, and education through urban agriculture projects, The Food Project and ReVision Urban Farm.

Joy has experience actively designing and building gardens for residents in and around Boston. She has long been interested in creating opportunities for residents to create community sufficiency and to build entrepreneurial capacity. Previously, she has worked in both legal real estate and retail which helped her understand the role of small businesses as the heartbeat of a neighborhood. She is looking forward to bringing her skills in communication, community development, and design to Greater Ashmont Main Street.

In her role as Program Assistant and Farmers Market Manager, Joy will be working full time, providing critical administrative support to the many projects and events we organize in our Boston Main Streets district. We’re look forward to the increased organizational capacity her role will allow as we continue our work to foster a vibrant and welcoming neighborhood. Please join us in welcoming Joy!
