November District Happenings

November is a busy month in our district, with our Fall Public Meeting, Small Business Saturday, a Pop-Up Holiday Market on the MBTA Plaza, and the Annual Peabody Square Tree Lighting. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Fall Public Meeting at Epiphany School

Thursday, 11/19, 6:30 – 8:00pm

Visit with your St. Mark’s Area Main Street District neighbors over light refreshments provided by Dot2Dot Café
Hear more about what SMAMS has been up to, our newly adopted vision statement, and our plans for the year ahead
Learn how you can get involved in one of our committees (Fundraising & Events; District Beautification; Development & Historic Preservation; and Local Business Support & Recruitment)
Pick up a free copy of our fully updated district business directory (initial run of 200 planned) and the professionally commissioned market assessment, in one of our new Small Business Saturday tote bags
Join or renew your SMAMS membership for the 2016 calendar year ($20/individual; $50/business; corporate sponsorship opportunities available)

Ashmont/Peabody Square Pop-Up Holiday Market

Saturday, 11/28, 4:00 – 7:00 pm (before the Tree Lighting)

Celebrate the season in Peabody Square at a pop-up holiday market! Holiday music will fill the air as you shop our market stands:

Cedar Grove Gardens for a holiday tree or winter wreaths & garlands
Spring Brook Farm for winter pantry vegetables (squashes, potatoes, and other root vegetables), all kinds of meats, hot cider, pies, preserves, & knit scarves, mittens, & hats
On the Dot Books and perhaps some local crafters for seasonal gifts
Dot Art for ongoing children’s activities
Dorchester Historical Society for Dorchester information and gifts
St. Mark’s Area Main Street to pick up a Small Business Saturday canvas tote with our new local district business directory, and to sign up for membership for 2016. #shopsmall #shoplocal

Annual Peabody Square Tree Lighting

Saturday, 11/28, 7:00

After our pop-up holiday market, light the Peabody Square Holiday Tree with Santa, Mayor Marty Walsh, and other special guests on the Ashmont MBTA Station Plaza. Feel free to bring an ornament to add to the ones Dot Art is helping children make to adorn the tree!

7:00 p.m. Refreshments and Holiday Songs with guests from Boston City Singers. Senator Linda Dorcena Forry has graciously agreed to be our Mistress of Ceremonies!

7:30 p.m. Holiday Trolley arrives, Tree-lighting Countdown, & Goody Bags for KidsPresented by:
