What is a Little Free Library you ask? Well, a Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” free book exchange. Now there are two in Greater Ashmont!

We partnered with Needham-based Storytime Crafts and the City of Boston’s Read Boston program to build, install, and stock the Little Free Libraries at two locations different locations. Now Greater Ashmont families can explore their neighborhood while adventuring to a Little Library to choose and enjoy new books!

You’ll notice the first Library at 1906 Dorchester Ave outside Ripple Cafe at the Carruth Building!
And the second library at 10 Ashmont Street across from A Child’s View Daycare.

To celebrate the installation of our Little Free Libraries, Greater Ashmont Main Streets will host Storytime on Peabody Square, an outdoor reading series featuring local authors & their works.

Join us for our first event on Saturday June 5, 2020 from 11:00am to 12:00pm with local children’s author Veronica Chapman. The event is free and open to the public. Light snacks provided. Rain date June 12. Copies of Veronica’s books will be added into the GAMS Lending Libraries following the event.
