Guild Hall on the first floor of All Saints Parish. Refreshments provided.
209 Ashmont Street, Dorchester, MA

At this meeting, come hear a brief review of all that went into the initial re-design of Peabody Square, see our current team’s proposals on the different possibilities to finish and enhance the plazas, and participate in small group feedback sessions to help narrow our selection and prioritize how we phase in the work.

Greater Ashmont Main Street has at this point secured $35,000, with at least one more grant application pending for an additional $5000, for re-investment in and enhancement of the Peabody Square plazas outside the Ashmont Grill and around the historic Peabody Square Clock, some of our district’s only public plaza space.

Funders include Greater Ashmont Main Street itself, an Innovative Improvements Grant from the Boston Main Streets Foundation, and most significantly, the Peabody Square Fund which is supported by Trinity Financial. Further, we are lucky to have experienced professional urban and landscape designers on a completely pro bono basis under the umbrella of COGdesgn, a urban design non-profit with which we have worked before.

Some of the funds will be invested in replacing plantings that didn’t make it, making the bioswale/rain garden functional again, and adding signage that was always intended to be there, but were never installed because funds ran out. Other pieces are meant to go farther, with the addition of some tables, chairs, & benches, the potential for a water feature, etc.
