When Justice Cuts first opened in 2010 the shop was in a standard shape, over the course of time they have made updates to the interior of the shop and have elevated the original design to make the space a more welcoming environment where people could stop by to a great haircut and stay for the conversation.

Justice cuts offers shades, hot tops, trims, and line ups for men of all races, they provide hair coloring treatments and hair cuts for women, and they specialize in children’s haircuts, ensuring that your entire family looks well groomed.

Their cuts stay on the natural side, making you look like the person you want to look like.  They do not believe in overly extended sharp lines that don’t look natural,  they make you look sharp in the natural spot making you look cleaned up as opposed to made up.  They provide more authentic and natural cuts while providing exceptional customer service and a friendly environment where people can meet new people and talk any and everything, sometimes people will come in just to talk and hangout with the community that Justice Cuts has fostered throughout the years.

Despite facing many challenges from Covid, including decreased staff, increasing rents & shifting to a more appointment driven model with limited walk ins allowed. Justice cuts was able to keep their doors open thanks to the State’s rent relief programs.  While other barber shops increased their prices Justice Cuts stayed the same, they currently charge $25 for a Haircut and Beard Trim which is “the lowest on the block”.

At Justice Cuts they believe that the world is an unjust place and that Everybody deserves justice, “if you are not getting justice where you are going you need it at least at the barbershop”.  That is signified by their Logo which was created by the owner, a unique take on the typical Gavel and block that you would see in a courtroom, where the gavel is replaced with the barber pole.  At Justice Cuts they believe you are the judge of your own haircut and the people waiting to be seen next are the 12 jurors, they are judging the quality of the cuts and the quality of the barber giving the cut.  After you walk out of the barbershop, you will know that your haircut is “Not Just A Haircut Its A Justice HairCut.

More about Justice Cuts Owner, Lascelle Russel

Lascelle Russel is quite the character, very friendly and community driven.  These attributes along with his over 20 years or experience have made Justice Cuts the staple of the Greater Ashmont District that it is today.  Lascelle started cutting hair in his house, it was here where he began to perfect his craft while developing a large customer base, he found that he was too busy to continue to operate from home so he began working at a barbershop in Cambridge.

Lascelle worked in Cambridge for a while before moving to Dorchester to work at a barbershop in Fields Corner that has since been replaced by Chill on Park.  When that shop closed due to increasing rents Lascelle decided to venture out on his own and become his own boss.  That is when Lascella found his current space at 1658 Dorchester Ave Boston, Ma 02122.

Lacesell has revamped the space to make the shop more modern and a more welcoming space.  Over the course of 11 years Lascelle has been able to bring together his community by hosting many community driven events at the shop.  He has hosted community cooks where he serves food and drink free of charge to the community.  On many occasions people have told Lacelle “ I didn’t know that person before you opened, he lives right next to me and the place I meet him was at your shop”

Lascelle has big plans for justice cuts, he has recently introduced a new element to the business, he has opened a one of a Kind mobile barbershop.  It’s a one of a kind experience complete with a state of the art sound system and top of the line equipment.  He can now bring his business to you!

Lascelle has  hosted toy drives, food drives, turkey drives and backpack giveaways.  He not only serves the community with the freshest all natural cuts on the block but he is also invested in the community and wants to see the community come together and grow together.
