We are happy to spotlight Ashmont Grill, a stone’s throw from the Ashmont T Station, Ashmont Grill (sister restaurant to Tavolo) has been open since 2005, serving “modern tavern cuisine” in Dorchester’s Peabody Square. The Ashmont Grill offers a diverse, evolving menu with the goal of having something for everyone in the community. Executive Chef Marc Bonanno & General Manager Tara O’Riordan strive to provide their customers with a menu that reflects the bounty of food offered in New England & an atmosphere that reflects the neighborhood they have served for over 16 years.

At the Ashmont Grill listening to feedback is the priority! They are known for serving up delicious burgers and steaks on their wood fire grill. Your first time in, you’ll notice a brightly lit bistro with hanging lampshades recycled from the stamped-out sheets used to mold spatulas. Cherrywood bar top and booths and a glowing wall of wine bottles. If you prefer fresh air, you can sit on our intimate yet spacious, stone patio without baking in the sun thanks to oversized “shade sails” shipped in from Australia. The patio is also decorated with old MBTA Maps of the Red Line that really tie into their connection with the Greater Ashmont District.

As of last year they were able to expand their outdoor seating & installed a Beer Garden. O’Riordan added “We were very grateful to the City of Boston for allowing so many restaurants to expand out outdoor dining – including us!” These upgrades have allowed them to host more outdoor events at the restaurant. They hosted a Sit and Sip event last year, which was in collaboration with the Dorchester Brewing Company, O’Riordan added “That event was a blast & a huge success! We are always happy to partner with local businesses – we have to support one another!”

They strive to provide their customers with the best overall dining out experience possible, while following state and federal health and safety guidelines. The safety of their customers and staff matters to them. When asked about staffing O’Riordan added “We are very lucky to have a core group of dedicated people working with us. It was important to keep everyone’s physical & mental health in mind – that meant we would not ask more of people than they could give”

Visit this Staple of the Greater Ashmont District for some amazing food prepared by a world class Chef and stay for the amazing atmosphere & beautiful decor.

More about Ashmont Grill Community Engagement:

Since their grand opening in 2005 The Ashmont Grill has played a major role in growing the community in which they serve. Tara O’Riordan, General Manager of Ashmont Grill added “Without the support of our neighbors & guests we wouldn’t be here – that’s a fact! We are always willing to give back to as many local causes that make sense for us. We do a lot of behind the scenes stuff – trays of food for families in need, gift cards to raffles, offering our space free of charge for community organizations. And, of course, during the holidays we have a giant toy box every year. This year we are hoping to adopt a family or two!

They have sponsored many local events, including this year’s 6th annual Holiday Pop-up Market on November 27th.  They partnered with the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance in their 13th annual Taste of Dorchester event that highlighted many small businesses from the Greater Ashmont District.  They partnered with The Boston Home, another non-profit in the greater Ashmont district for their Comedy Night Fundraiser, in which they along with other local businesses put together several gift baskets that were auctioned off to raise funds for The Boston Home.  In previous years they have hosted the Bike & Brew at their Beer Garden which is an amazing event complete with food trucks & live music that serves to bring the community together.

They do a lot behind the scenes that goes unseen and unpublicized, for instance they have participated in community clean up days and are continually looking for ways to promote the community and other small businesses in the District.  In an effort to support other small businesses in the district the Ashmont Grill recently added a “local” tab to their website https://ashmontgrill.com/local/ that highlights other local restaurants and retail stores and includes links to their websites.  They want to see the community continue to grow and they are doing everything they can to support the community & other local businesses.
